Borough of Mountville in Lancaster County PA

Mountville PA (1)The borough of Mountville is located along PA route 462, between Columbia and Lancaster, just south of US 30 in Lancaster County PA. In January of 1814 Issac Rohrer laid out the town that became known as Mountville, dividing it into 130 building lots which were sold by lottery. Mountville was originally named Mount Pleasant because it was situated on an elevation affording a pleasant view of the surrounding countryside.

When a Post Office was established in 1842 the name was changed to Mountville as there was a previous record in Pennsylvania for Mount Pleasant. The town incorporated as the borough of Mountville in 1906. Mountville includes about one square mile of area and boasts one of the highest ratios of public park space per capita and includes Froelich Park. The population of Mountville PA was 2824 according to 2010 US Census date.
