Hendry County Scenery (17)Hendry County is located in the southern part of Florida between Lee and Palm Beach Counties. Created in May of 1923 the county is named after Major Francis A. Hendry, one of the first settlers to the area. Hendry County includes 1,152.53 square miles of land and 37.26 square miles of water. The population of Hendry County was 39,140 according to the 2010 U.S. Census.

The county seat of Hendry County is the city of LaBelle, FL. LaBelle has a population of about 4,200 people. LaBelle is popular for holding their annual Swamp Cabbage Festival. This festival is held the last weekend in February and honors Florida's state tree, the cabbage palm.

Hendry County encompasses the Clewiston, Florida, Micropolitan Statistical Area. Some of Hendry Counties historical places are; the Clewiston Inn, Dixie Crystal Theatre, Capt. F. Deane Duff House, Executive House, Capt. Francis A. Hendry House, and the Old Hendry County Courthouse.

Hendry County is bordered by Glades County FL to the North, Palm Beach County FL to the East, Lee County FL to the West, and Collier County FL to the South.
